Hot off the Easel

Trunks
22" high X 18.5" wide
Gallery Price: $1,500
Come
bid on this at the Richard
Schmid Fine Art Auction September 5th -- it's in the LIVE
AUCTION.
I'll also have a smaller, very affordable piece in the
Silent
Auction.
While vacationing in Oregon last year, these Model A Fords were
parked outside our motel one morning.
They were lined up so nicely!
I couldn't resist taking a bunch of photos
to use as reference for later studio paintings.
According to automotive history, the original car trunks were
simply leather, wicker, or metal trunks that were securely attached
to the back of the car.
Hence the title TRUNKS!

Honorable Mention, 2010 TVAL Sweet Art Show
This is a really
fun technique of watercolor on Yupo,
a polypropylene support; it's very slick and
intriguing textures can be achieved.
I'm currently working on a series of small Yupo
paintings of my garden flowers as they emerge this spring.
I find working on Yupo is incredibly freeing, and the results
are rich and juicy and quite appealing.
Look for them soon at the
Lincoln Gallery
in downtown Loveland.

What's New:
- My painting 'Trunks',
on the left, has been selected by Richard Schmid to be included
as one of 50 pieces in the LIVE 2010
Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction to be held Sunday, Sept.
5 at the Rist Canyon Fire Station. This event is the major
fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
I'll also have a painting in the Silent Auction. Be sure to
mark your calendar and attend this really fun event -- it's
a great opportunity to collect topnotch art at great prices!
- I haven't painted
much the past year, but early April I participated in a Frank
Francese watercolor workshop. Frank packed a 5-day class
into 3 intense days. The pieces I produced are not 'keepers',
but they'll be great references for a couple upcoming series.
- My hubby &
I spent 2 weeks of March visiting the northern areas of Costa
Rica. We visited volcanoes, rain and cloud forests, jungle
rivers, and a pristine section of the Pacific Coast. I brought
back great reference photos to paint tropical flowers, red
iguana, monkeys, lizards, cayman, birds galore and lush landscapes.
Check back to see!
- DOS
Pescado a Plastico' (lower left) received an Honorable Mention
at the Thompson Valley Art League's SweetArt Show in February.
