The Secret of Mesa Verde: Mug House
Watercolor, 16.5" h x 22.5" w
(24" x 30" frame)
Gallery price: $900

I was Artist in Residence at Mesa Verde National
Park in southwest Colorado in May of 2007. As part of my residency, I toured several Ancient Puebloan (Anasazi) ruins which are not open to the public.
Mug House is one of those ruins; it has been restored
but remains closed to park visitors.
This is an amazing ruin and I was fascinated with it.
By painting it for the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction,
I am able to share this treasure with many, many
people who will never get to see it in person.

Please visit my page on the auction site; the
opening bid for this painting is only $450!
Wouldn't you like to own it???

The Towers of Cliff Palace
Watercolor, 24 x 18
As part of my Mesa Verde residency, I donated
this painting which now hangs in the Museum.
When you visit Mesa Verde, please drop by the
Museum and visit my painting.
Sorry, but this one's not available for purchase!

Update:

Summer has been really busy with gardening and camping, hiking, backpacking, and other travel. I haven't done much painting!
I was invited back to the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction, which is a fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
The auction is August 31st, with art preview beginning at 10:00 and the live and silent auctions starting at 1:00. This annual event is held in Rist Canyon, west of Fort Collins, Colorado.
For the convenience of collectors who cannot attend the auction, bidding is available on-line. Simply go to the Richard Schmid Auction web site to view the art and place your bid.
Wildfire is a constant concern to people who live in the rural mountains, and the volunteer firefighters are critical to assuring that fires are quicky contained. I urge you to support this worthy event by purchasing a valuable piece of art from any one of over 100 nationally-known artists.

I'm excited!
The middle of August I'm attending a week-long watercolor workshop with Cheng-Khee Chee, an internationally renowned artist and instructor. It is in Harbor Springs, Michigan, which is reportedly one of earth's more wonderful spots. I'm taking extra time to explore the coast of Lake Michigan. I anticipate learning lots and coming back ready to paint like crazy!
